Day 3 - Moving up the Mountain

Important news.... Mrs Olsen has not fallen over this morrning!

IN BRIEF

Most groups are now moving up the mountain and taking in the great views from the top. There are a few aches an pains creeping in although everyone are making great progress. Alex D and Micheal C are suffering from helmet hair, Emily has taken a fence down, Todd appeared to drop off the end of the mountain (no damage done), Hannah and Stacey R are now exceptional so they tell me. Super Cooper is skiing well and Sarah A is eating for Great Britain. Elle B still talks while skiing, Tom E has no fashion sense at lunch times - check out the black tights, and Jamie H thinks he is Heath Ledger (the Joker, not Brokeback Mountain). Eve has hit her head while in bed! Megan tells me she is the best. Olivia is cruising, Ryan is rapid, Alex tells us she has burnt parts that shouldn't see the sun in public. Jaire Bear is a magnet for other skiers. Everone wants to say hi! Amy got ploughed over by Chad, many romances started this way.

THE AFTERNOON

What a day, how we suffered! The sun, the snow, the skiing... Mr Farley was forced to ski with his group into Val Thorens down a black run, but the team were more than enough for the challenge. Mrs Olsen's special group made great progress coming down from the top of the mountain. The beginners groups are storming the blue runs and challenging the reds. The intermediates are carving down the pistes while the advanced group are banking their ski miles..
Mrs Spence continues to star on the slopes, Mr Latham is looking quite professional and Miss Snowball is living up to her name.

This evening there have been some great comments from other guests staying at the hotel about how well mannered and polite our students are -at this rate we may be able to return!

Has Liam really broke a ski? Did Elle B wipe out a piste sign? Does Stephen H keep crashing out? Has Mrs Olsen lost a ski pole? Did Tom A fall over doing a snow plough turn? Has Todd been wiped out by Mr F? Did Dan A's fringe get in the way? Do any of the instructors believe Beth and Alicia are twins? These and many more questions to be answered shortly.

On the learning front....

What is a glacier and what do they look like? Why don't the trees grow at this altitude? How do the snow sensors work and where are they placed. What is a pluviometre? Who were the Goitschel sisters? Where is Mont Blanc? Why do microwave dishes have to be in a direct line? Oh, yes then there is the learning that cannot be measured quite so easily, respect for each other, suppporting weaker members of the group and how to put accidents behind you and get back on your skis to prove you can do it!

Another great day finished off with some bum boarding - you just can't keep them off the snow.

  1. If Jamie H is the joker does that make Mr Farley Batman and if so who's Robin.

You'd never believe that whilst you've been away, we've had 6 foot of snow and everyone is skiing to school!!! (Not!) ;-)
Oh and Mr F, does a message of 'Fatal Error' really matter followed by 'Press any key to wipe server'? I'm sure it doe......
